Approach

Dataspace Culture Technè
A technological foundation
connecting the cultural value chain

Interconnecting the cultural and creative industry ecosystem at all levels of the value chain , to engage the public, personalize the offer and better distribute value, by relying on existing, European, high‑performing technologies that comply with the European legal data framework.

Technè addresses the numerous challenges faced by stakeholders in the cultural industry with:

  • A cultural and creative offering that generates high value in the digital space , but is unfairly distributed to the detriment of publishers and creators;
  • The need to contribute to the digital transformation of cultural operators , in a secure manner (GDPR/ePrivacy) to ensure the sustainability of economic models;
  • A user‑centric approach (readable, visible, accessible) to improve their experience of the cultural offering;
  • A dynamic ecosystem bringing together the entire value chain , developing and deploying technologies by and for cultural industry operators, capitalizing on proven solutions.

Capitalize on existing strengths,
create new ones

Technè will rely on two pillars to respond effectively, in a targeted, secure and frugal manner to the needs expressed.

Starting from existing alliances and communities within each sector

The media are organized into several associations, unions, and alliances. 250 French media outlets have pooled their advertising inventory through the Gravity alliance, or through the Relocalisateurs association of media outlets and advertising agencies, which works to relocate advertising investments to local media to ensure their survival and sustainability. Cultural institutions are united within learning communities such as TMN Lab. By interconnecting these sectors, Technè will allow cultural institutions to capitalize on the strategic strength of media outlets already structured in alliances to increase their visibility, and will enable media outlets to better monetize their inventory with advertisers by combining it with a high‑quality cultural offering that is a uniquely French phenomenon.

Deploy interconnection technologies that have proven their effectiveness

In France, in particular, there are numerous innovative technology companies providing personalization and digital marketing services, supported by consent collection mechanisms that comply with European data protection requirements (GDPR/ePrivacy). The DataCoop Culture dataspace project has successfully brought together media outlets and cultural institutions in Canada, leveraging technology partners such as Eulerian, Didomi, and Axeptio, leaders in data collection and compliance. This core group of partners has enabled the development of a robust, reliable, and resilient infrastructure upon which the Technè project is built. DataCoop Culture, managed by a media cooperative for nearly three years, is already producing tangible results for cultural institutions and local media outlets, whose collaborative efforts are generating increased advertising revenue, visibility, and audience engagement.

A management tool
easy to use

While some sectors of the cultural and creative industry are familiar with control interfaces and consoles, and many operators in many sectors of the cultural and creative industry are familiar with control interfaces and are willing to implement solutions, few cultural operators currently have sufficient know‑how and resources to exploit their data in a sovereign and independent manner.

Designed from a platform that integrates a powerful management and measurement tool; simple, accessible, transparent and secure , Technè's mission is to build a suitable ecosystem to support cultural and creative operators in a controlled environment to reclaim ownership of their data.

Following the model of Data‑Coop Culture in Canada, the platform offers an aggregated view of sector‑specific data, accessible in real time, allowing members to benchmark the overall performance of their sector . This data is also intended to support strategic decision‑making, for example, in editorial or programmatic matters , the deployment of new projects, and to provide measurement tools for guiding local, regional, or national cultural public policies where applicable .

To establish oneself within a framework of trust

Technè is part of a clear ambition: to create an ecosystem dynamic by relying on the interconnection between multiple, creative and innovative operators, which can already be grouped into associations, industry alliances or cross‑sectors .

A very active technological innovation sector in France

France invests significant resources to foster the emergence of unicorns in cutting‑edge technologies. These companies, some of which are leaders in their fields, must be able to develop within the framework of European initiatives. Networks such as French Tech, and more specifically French Touch, dedicated to the cultural and creative sector, are French and European assets that Technè aims to leverage to source the most innovative technologies best suited to meet the challenges of the digital market. Associations such as France Digitale, which brings together startups, and the Alliance Digitale, which unites a wide range of digital marketing players, are both witnesses to and participants in the dynamism of French and European innovation in this field.

A community of cultural institutions sensitive to the challenges of transformation

Over the past fifteen years, cultural and creative institutions and venues have been observing technological developments and have engaged in diverse and varied reflections on how to address them. Live performance, by its very nature, may have seemed immune to appropriation by major technological intermediaries. Now, cultural institutions and venues are aware of the need to establish a digital presence, both in terms of their programming and their identity, and consequently, to become visible to audiences in order to attract, renew, and retain them. This community of operators is now ready to undertake its transformation in a compliant and independent manner.

A highly structured media, advertising sales, and digital marketing sector

French media outlets have implemented several strategic, multi‑format, and cross‑platform alliances to offer comprehensive solutions to the market. One example is the development of ICI, the TV, radio, and digital platform jointly developed by France Télévisions' local stations and Radio France's ICI radio stations, which positions itself as the digital media outlet for local life. Other examples include professional associations and the Gravity alliance, which brings together publishers and players in the French web sector (telecom, media, e‑commerce, and digital services). Gravity collects and unifies 2 billion events each month, feeding 750 audience segments to optimize the performance of marketing campaigns. Gravity connects more than 250 websites and applications to ensure a transparent and valuable distribution environment.
